Are Supplements a Good Thing?

In modern lifestyles, many people don’t eat the healthiest of diets. That’s why supplements can help fill the gaps, and may have added health benefits.

Can supplements replace healthy foods?

No and yes! Vitamins and other supplements are not intended to be food substitute. They cannot replace all of the nutrients and benefits of whole foods. However, they can plug nutrition gaps in your diet. From calcium, magnesium to probiotics, vitamin B and C etc.; supplements can help to contribute to your overall health.

Is taking supplements before bed recommended?

Certain vitamins are best taken on an empty stomach, making bedtime an ideal time for consuming them. Calcium is one such supplement, and it even promotes better sleep as it is a natural muscle relaxant. Probiotics, green foods and herbal remedies are other supplements recommended prior to bedtime on an empty stomach. As with Vitamins B and C, they do well in acidic conditions. Both are water-soluble vitamins that can be taken at bedtime.

Supplements for weight loss: myth or fact?

Many of the weight loss techniques in the market today may help people lose weight. But to avoid regaining that weight and to be healthier overall, behavioural modification is the best approach for many people.
